Overview

SaleCheck is a Chrome extension designed to track product prices and notify you of price drops. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

We do not collect personal information. There are no user accounts, no emails, no passwords, and no sign-up process.

The extension generates a random, anonymous identifier (UUID) on installation. This UUID is used solely for rate limiting API requests to prevent abuse. It cannot be linked to your identity, browsing history, or any personal information.

Data stored locally in your browser:

  • Product URLs you choose to track
  • Product titles and prices
  • Your anonymous UUID

This data is stored in Chrome's local storage on your device. It is not uploaded to our servers or shared with any third party.

Data We Send to Our Servers

When you track a product or when prices are refreshed daily, the extension sends the following to our backend:

  • The product URL or product identifier (to look up pricing data)
  • Your anonymous UUID (for rate limiting only)

We do not log, store, or associate product URLs with your UUID beyond the immediate request. Our servers do not maintain any per-user profile, browsing history, or product tracking list.

Third-Party Services

Our backend uses third-party pricing data services to retrieve product information. These services receive product identifiers (not your personal information) to return pricing data. We do not share your UUID or any identifying information with these services.

Cookies and Tracking

SaleCheck does not use cookies, tracking pixels, analytics scripts, or any form of user tracking. We do not track your browsing activity. The extension only activates when you explicitly interact with it.

Data Retention

Product pricing data on our servers is automatically deleted when no user has requested it for a period of time. Your locally stored data persists until you remove it (by deleting tracked products) or uninstall the extension.

Your Rights

  • Delete your data: Remove any tracked product from the extension at any time, or uninstall the extension to delete all local data.
  • Export your data: Use the export button in the extension to download your tracked product list.
  • No data on our servers: We do not maintain any per-user data. There is nothing to request deletion of.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
